souvenir plates are the best

this one’s on the wall in the Smithsonian in Anacostia
the church it’s memorializing - Our Lady of Perpetual Hope - is just down the street from said Smithsonian
and has something called the Panorama Room
which just sounds intoxicating
speaking of Anacostia, you should read this crazy story of the handsome devil named Captain John Smith
the first European who arrived in Anacoatia, in 1608
Smith was quite the swashbuckler. While he was fighting in Transylvania in 1602 he was captured and was given as a gift to a Turk, who in turn gave Smith to his girlfriend, who then fell in love with Smith and gave him to her brother for training. Smith killed the brother, returned to England, ventured to the New World, was rescued in 1607 by a pre-teen Pocohontas, founded Jamestown, and more.
is anything more melancholy than an empty pool?
