can’t wait to see this movie

(special fact: the lead is from Halifax!  one of my favorite towns.  Halifax is no Osaka but it’s still cool.  and cold - it was like 60 degrees the August I was there.  60 degrees actually sounds pretty warm right about now.  apparently there’s 50 mph wind outside right now, and DCers should beware of flying metal today.)

saw this movie yesterday, and it is amazing - it appears like it could be a sort of cynical, overly-quirky-for-the-sake-of-quirky movie, but it’s totally not .  it’s really sweet and touching and has some good, er, lessons in it, too.  side note: can you imagine a totally chaste movie about a  sex doll?  neither could I, till this great movie!

so here’s another thing: how come I’m totally willing to shell out, like, $25 for a green faux-fur poncho on ebay, but when it turns out that the poncho doesn’t look too good on me and I try to re-sell the thing, it only goes for $.99?  do I wildly overvalue green faux-fur ponchos, or am I just a poor ebay seller, or…?  I feel like there’s a psychology and economics lesson in here, but what is it?
